               I.       BASIC FUNCTION: (Describe overall objective of this position.)

The incumbent in this position will assess, design and deliver training and development solutions primarily for the Claims Unit.  He/she will use Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methods as well as the discipline of time management to support this line operation. This person will also apply advanced instructional design methods to all courseware (participant workbooks, policy & procedural manuals, instructor manuals and interactive exercises).      

                

              II.       SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (List in descending order of general importance the principal duties and responsibilities of the position.)

 

The following is a list of duties and responsibilities essential to the performance of this job. It is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.

 

Provides instructional and technical leadership to multiple projects in the following activities:

·         Defining training issues, instructional strategies and approaches, analyzing the targeted audience ensuring instructional soundness.

·         Designing educational design documents, evaluation criteria, workbooks, instructor presentations, leader’s guides and job aids.

·         Delivering technical subject matter and system skills.

·         Coordinating and implementing training delivery as directed by the management of HR/Learning & Development.

·         Interacting with Operational Managers for information to provide customer support.

·         Other duties as assigned by the management of HR/Learning & Development in support of special projects or programs under Human Resources as well as the goals and objectives of the HIP enterprise.

 

 

            III.       DECISION MAKING: (Describe the decision-making responsibilities of the position, indicating the extent to which independent action, and discretion is required for the position with employees other than direct superiors and subordinates, and with individuals or organizations outside of the company.)

 

·         Demonstrates knowledge of training program delivery techniques and group dynamics needed to conduct training sessions, as well as the resourcefulness, innovation, and ability to solve problems during platform training and designing programs and materials.

·         Exercises discretion and good judgment when interfacing with all organizational levels, including contact with participants during training sessions.

·         Assists in selection and development of training resources, techniques, and materials, as well as in revision of present training programs.

The incumbent exercises no direct managerial responsibility over staff.

 

 

             V.       CONTACTS: (Describe the relationships required for the position with HIP employees other than direct supervisors,

subordinates, and with individuals or organizations outside of HIP.)

 

The activities of this position allow the incumbent to impact 200+ management and line employees per year. He/she

will have frequent contact with external entities of HIP to analyze training needs, deliver training, and implement

follow-up.

 

 

            VI.      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (List in descending order of general importance, the minimum KSA’s required for job performance, and indicate the specific application for each KSA.)

 

·         The ability to effectively apply communication methods to create messages that accommodate the learners’ needs, as well as “craft” documents that are organized, clear and concise.

·         Knowledge of learning styles and adult learning theory, training delivery techniques and group dynamics needed to accommodate the diverse experiences of the adult learner.

·         Strong skills needed to interact with all organizational levels to analyze needs/gather data.

·         Planning and organizational skills sufficient to manage own workload.

·         Knowledge of ICD-9, CPT4 and HFCA, UB 92 and DRG coding as well as working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.

·         Maintains a bias-free approach to people and situations.

·         The ability and commitment to improve one’s own skills and to develop to the fullest extent possible, even if it means self-activity.

 

 

          VII.       EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (Describe the levels of education and previous work experience required to meet the above KSA’s.  Include level and field of degree, other course work and duration and field of work experience.)

 

§  B.A./B.S. Degree in a related field, with 2 years of related experience in a health care/insurance setting.

§  5 years of experience in a health care/insurance setting, with a minimum of 2 -3 years in the training and development field.

 

 

The time that the incumbent is expected to assume full responsibility and duties is 9 to 12 months.
